22.11.15 Space Space Beauty Part 2

"We have lingered long enough on the shores of the cosmic ocean. We are ready at last to set sail for the stars." - Carl Sagan

I feel compelled to make work that contributes, and search to find relevant subject matter that does not exclude; that speaks in the language of Everyman. I love that art has the power to convey something complex in a simple way.

This work is a demonstration of my dedication, a practice of discipline and patience. The process is slow and meditative, consuming of time and self. The deliberate use of millions of minute pen marks represent the likeness of The Great Omega Centauri; the brightest star cluster in the Milky Way. The intention is to broaden perspectives of Who we are, and Where we are. The subject of Space in all its complexity and vastness calls me to explore the unknown.

Wo und mit welchen Materialien arbeitest Du?

At the moment I work from a studio in the city center of Cape Town. My medium for this work is  fineliner pens, black pots of Ink and Fabriano paper.

Wo kann man Deine Arbeiten erwerben?

I don't have a shop, but am busy setting up a website. In the mean time my work can be seen on this website http://www.smithstudio.co.za/content/marsi-van-de-heuvel.

Auf Ihrem Instagram-Profil marsi_vdh gibt es mehr zu sehen.
